As a writer of novels, I’ve decided recently to stretch myself and further hone my craft through writing short stories. I stumbled on a short story competition hosted by Bibliophone, where the winners would be chosen for narration by a professional narrator. The challenge was to tell a punchy, compelling short story in 1,000 words or less. I sat down with an idea and whittled away at it, then submitted it. Guess what? Yeah, gotta say I love the results. Rebecca Roberts did an insanely good job at bringing the voice of this dark little tale to life. Check it out below
A conversation between a pregnant woman and her husband evolves into something more sinister as the eggs sputter in the skillet.
Sending out a huge thank you to the over 3,500 of you who downloaded your free copy of Hindsight this past week. High fives all around! Hope you enjoy the ride! When you’re done, let me know what you think, either in a private message, a comment, or (better yet!) a review. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
I’ve gotten some good love from reviewers lately. Lines like this one keep my fingers pounding out the pages on the keyboard, “Surprisingly for a novel in this genre it is more importantly unpredictable in its twists and turns, and this kept me turning the pages until I finished the book.”
You’re here for this reason, though. Kirkus Reviews has called Hindsight, “A high-stakes suspense novel with a breakneck pace and strong voice.” They have selected the novel as one of their Indie Books of the Month. It’s for this reason that I’m going to give some love back to you, my reading friends. This week till Friday, I’ll be dropping the price of Hindsight to $.99. At less than a movie rental, you can enjoy a whole weekend of “a staccato beat of furious double-crosses, stunning revelations and gritty action.” Just follow the link here, and be sure to leave me a review or drop me a comment letting me know what you think of the novel.
Howdy! Don’t be shy. Come on closer to the campfire. Shake the dust off your boots and sit a while. I’ve got a pot of coffee on and some tobacco to roll if you like. Beautiful night isn’t it? Where am I coming from? I’m caravanning on a month long blog tour. I’ve been to a few nice places this past week. Let me tell you about them.
I started off with a guest post on writing in first person POV over at my friend, Ravina’s blog. Hindsight, my novel, is written in first person, after all. I left four tips for writers who’d like to tackle the perspective or those who’d just like to refine their knowledge of it.
Then I rolled into Bunny’s Reviews for a little sit down and chat–an author interview, if you like–about my family, about fears, and failure.
I stopped over at Author’s Friend with another guest post of six tips for less procrastinating and more doing.
And just before I got here, I found my way onto The Reading Cat for another author interview. (And yes, it did sound an awful lot like the first one, so if you’ve read my interview on Bunny’s Reviews, you know the answer to these questions).
I’ll be sure to keep the posts coming your way as I continue to stop off and visit with all the fine folks I meet along the way. Meanwhile, how ’bout a drop of whiskey in that coffee?
Big news! Hindsight, my new thriller (available on Amazon here), and I will be going on a blog tour, stopping off at some of your favorite bloggers along the way. I’ll be doing author interviews and a few guests posts on writing and life in general, so check out the schedule below and plan to stop on by. Make sure to drop me a comment with your own thoughts, ideas, and feedback. Talk with you soon!
